Potassium Deficiency in Plants
Potassium is the third of the “big three” macronutrients that plants rely on. It facilitates the movement of nutrients, water, and carbohydrates into plant tissue. These processes are crucial in the regulation of photosynthesis and growth.
Often, yellowing leaf edges, white spots, and stunted growth are attributed to a water deficiency. While sometimes this can be the case, your crops’ issues may actually come from a potassium deficiency. Although potassium levels in soil are abundant, the nutrient is usually not present in a form available to plants. Instead, it’s found in micas, feldspars, and other crystalline structures that are not water-soluble.
In order to provide plants with adequate levels, potassium must be added to the soil in a form that they can uptake. Pro-soil’s line of products contains essential nutrients to plant growth including potassium. Our mixtures are not harsh fertilizers. They work to actively increase soil productivity naturally.
Being able to identify, diagnose, and treat symptoms is critical in producing a healthy and nutrient dense crop. Pro-soil’s experts can conduct field tests to determine if your crop has a potassium deficiency. If this is the case, we can recommend the appropriate blend of biological soil supplements to apply.
Our products are not a quick fix to nutrient deficiency. Just as plants take time to grow, our products take time to show results. This being said, our biological soil treatments are backed by studies and are an investment in the long-term health of your crops.
